Is
afraid Ida will get very sick before she gets better, he just has a
feeling. He
doesnÕt know when his navy papers will come, he
expects them every day. He
feels bad the sleigh and wagon have been used so bad but he doesnÕt blame her
if George has it Òyou might as well make him a Present of it first as last for
he will never ofer [sic] it back to you again Untill it is good for nothing. You see I know him of Old. But I am not telling you of it to find fault for I can
easily imagine how you feel whenever they ask you for any such things.Ó
Glad
to hear that Tom is home and will be happy , he knows
he would be. Tom may tell quite
some stories but if he tells the truth he canÕt say anything to hurt him. Wants to know if Ida recognized
Tom. ÒI heard about Dimblebys loosing their child some time before I got your
letter. I suppose they must feel
pretty bad about it. Wantsto know if she got the money and pictures of the Generals.
The
sick were moved away and he thinks they are under marching order but the
weather will not allow it. ÒThey
say Gen Grant is down here to Put the Armey [sic] of
the Potomac in motion & will Review it in a few days.Ó Closing.
ÒFrom
your affectionate Husband
